A 16 × 16 canvas, ready to draw: the classic size for icons, items and small game sprites. Export at actual size or scaled up without blur.

Sixteen pixels square is small enough to finish in a sitting and big enough to read: it's the size of a browser favicon, a common tile and item size in games, and a good canvas for learning, because every single pixel visibly matters. Many classic game sprites were 16 pixels wide.
Start with a silhouette in one dark colour, fill it, then add two or three shades for light and shadow. A limited palette like PICO-8 or Game Boy helps keep a tiny sprite readable. Use Mirror X for anything symmetrical, such as faces, potions and shields.
Choose 1× to get a true 16 × 16 PNG (for a favicon or a game engine), or 16× and 32× for a 256 × 256 or 512 × 512 version to post or print. Scaled exports copy each pixel into a solid square, so they stay sharp. Need more room? Pick 32 × 32 or a custom size from the canvas menu; your drawing is kept in the top-left corner.
